This program grows out of the Graduate seminar on Hermeneutic studies offered by the CRA-INITS since the 1993-94 accademic year. Founded initially in affiliation with the University of Connecticut, in 2004 the Carla Rossi Academy has become an independent Institution of University Education and Research accredited by the Italian Government. The CRA-INITS has collaborated with many different Italian and international universities, such as the Università di Catania, Università di Firenze, Università di Genova, Università di Lecce, Università La Sapienza di Roma, Università di Milano, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore-Milano, Università Federico II di Napoli, Università di Palermo, Università di Roma, Università di Torino, Università di Urbino, University of Cambridge, Bard College, Brown University, Columbia University, Concordia University, Georgetown University, Johns Hopkins University, Pennsylvania State University, San Francisco State University, Temple University, University of Connecticut, University of Pittsburg, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Tufts University, Yale University, McGill University, University of Delhi, University of Ioannina (Athens), National and Capodistrian University of Athens, Saints Cyril and Methodius University, Escuela Nacional de Antropologia e Historia - University of Mexico City, and the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. Since 1998, CRA-INITS has established a strong relationship with Havard University and has in recent years played host to Harvard University's summer abroad program.
CRA-INITS runs its own online scholarly press (www.cra.phoenixfound.it/ipubbf.htm). In collaboration with the the editor Le Lettere in Florence, it also publishes the series of philosophical-literary studies Biblioteca La Fenice. CRA-INITS is a lifetime member of the Società Dantesca Italiana - Firenze and the Dante Society of America.
